Many opportunities exist within the church for using time and talents to serve. Listed alphabetically, they include: Altar Guild, Church Council, Finance, Flower Committee, Hospitality, Lay Leadership, Spiritual Formation, Staff-Parish Relations, Stewardship, Trustees, Visitation Team, and Worship. Please read on for descriptions of each group:
Church Council - The governing body of the church. Includes elected members-at-large, and representatives from all church committees. Visions, sets goals, and determines the direction of the church’s ministry and outreach. Meets monthly (with a couple of exceptions.) All church members may attend.
Finance Committee - Manages the finances for the congregation. Meets monthly. Trustees - Elected body that oversees the church’s facility, and promotes ministry through the use of the physical plant.
Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) - Relates to, supports and manages the paid staff of the church, including the appointed pastor. Helps staff to implement the vision of the church. Interprets the staff/pastor’s work to the congregation and communicates the congregation’s needs to the staff. Meets at least quarterly.
Altar Guild - Plans and prepares decorations for the sanctuary and entryway on special church holidays like Christmas and Easter. New helpers are welcome. Meets on “as needed” basis.
Hospitality - Plans and serves refreshments for Fellowship Hour on Sunday mornings. Welcomes visitors to the church.
Lay Leadership - Nominates the chairperson and members of church committees, and is responsible for leadership support and training. Chaired by the Pastor. Meets as needed.
Spiritual Formation Committee - Oversees the Christian education program for all ages, as well as book studies, Bible studies or related programs, Youth program and others. Meets several times per year.
Stewardship Team - Interprets stewardship to the congregation, and encourages a culture of gratitude that leads to financial giving and spiritual growth.
VisitationTeam - Prepares and delivers gift baskets to home-bound members for holidays. Sends greeting cards for birthdays.
Worship Committee - Plans and oversees weekly Sunday morning worship experiences with the Pastor.
