Arts Project - A Bucket List Wall For two Sundays, Oct 21 and Oct 28, we will host a “Bucket List Wall.” This is a collaborative project of the Worship, Music and Arts Committee, Philomusica Chorale and Conductor/Composer Gayle Wieand. It is one of our church-wide art projects for this year. The three-sided "wall" (yes, deliberately for the Trinity) invites you to finish the sentence stem, “Before I die, I want …” The responses to the “wall” will be incorporated into a new musical composition by Gayle which will premiere at Philomusica Chorale’s Spring concert in May. Our “wall” is a variation of an idea created by Candy Chang in New Orleans after the Hurricane Katrina disaster. She painted the side of a dilapidated building with blackboard paint, stenciled the sentence stem, and provided the chalk. The community loved it; the idea went viral; Ms. Chang traveled the world documenting Bucket List Walls and wrote a book about it Our wall debuted last Sunday at the Fall Festival for the Arts in Chestnut Hill. More than 500 people contributed their items to the wall! When each side filled up, we took a picture, erased, and filled it again. Willow Grove United Methodist Church is the second stop of a planned five stops. Have fun with this. And reflect. As fitting for the Trinity aspect, Gayle herself contributed three different items, one each for body, mind, and soul. What will you write? Feel free – it’s anonymous. Feel creative? There’s lots of colored chalk! For all ages!
